A heliport must be equipped with at least one wind direction indicator. This indicator should be positioned to provide an accurate reading of wind conditions, free from turbulence created by nearby objects or rotor downwash.
The indicator must be clearly visible to pilots in flight, during hover, and while taxiing on the ground, ensuring correct wind assessment in all phases of helicopter operations.
For heliports supporting night operations, the wind direction indicator must be properly illuminated to guarantee visibility under low-light conditions.
