Innovation and Safety in Heliport Lighting: New Baglem TLOF Lights Tested in the Desert and Acquired by the Military Forces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
During the trade fair in Saudi Arabia, we had the opportunity to present our innovative heliport AVL lighting products, with particular focus on the new TLOF lights (Touchdown and Lift-Off Area, TLOF perimeter light). This perimeter lighting system is essential for heliports operating in low-visibility conditions, especially at night.
What are TLOF Lights?
The TLOF signaling system is a fundamental technology for ensuring safety in nighttime heliport operations. Its main function is to mark the landing and take-off area through perimeter lights. Each light emits a fixed beam, visible in all directions, providing clear guidance for pilots even in the most challenging conditions.
OPL – Recessed Omnidirectional Perimeter LED TLOF Green
Our new model BGL-TLOFI0G30 is a recessed omnidirectional light, designed to provide optimal signaling of the TLOF area, with a brightness of 30 Cd and uniform light distribution thanks to 6 redundant SMD LEDs.

Resistance to Extreme Environmental Conditions
Baglem TLOF lights are designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions. During desert testing, the lights faced temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C, with relative humidity varying from 10% to 95%. Thanks to their robust construction and durable materials, the TLOF lights demonstrated perfect functionality even in the presence of sand, dust, and strong temperature fluctuations, making desert tests ideal for evaluating their reliability and longevity.
